Book a test as soon as possible.You and the people in your household should isolate and avoid contact with people outside your immediate household. Remain at home except for conducting a PCR test.

 In the event of testing positive or knowing you have been exposed to Covid you must follow government guidelines and self isolate for 10 days from the day you find out.

The incubation period of COVID-19, which is the time between exposure to the virus and symptom onset, is on average 5-6 days, but can be as long as 14 days. Thus, quarantine should be in place for 14 days from the last exposure to a confirmed case. 

Many symptoms are yet unknown or very subtle, however mild forms of the disease tend to be removed by your immune system within between 5-8 days however may last 2 weeks.

Like most diseases, viruses mutate relatively regularly especially with a greater exposure rate. However, viruses strongly tend to mutate away from lethality and towards diffusion, making it less impeding on the human body but spreading faster and further.

Current evidence suggests that transmission of SARS-CoV-2 occurs primarily between people through direct, indirect, or close contact with infected people through infected secretions such as saliva and respiratory secretions, or through their respiratory droplets, which are expelled when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks or sings.

There is an extremely low number of cases suggesting that pets carry and infect others with the novel corona virus. It is very unlikely; however, it is possible. 

There have been no evidence linking water contamination with the spread of COVID.

As long a usual food hygiene is observed, food does not present any risk of transmission of infection.

The virus spreads mainly through the air when people are near each other. It leaves an infected person as they breathe, cough, sneeze, or speak and enters another person via their mouth, nose, or eyes. It might also spread via contaminated surfaces.

Be aware that being near or in contact with another individual does risk being contaminated with the virus. Take caution if you need to interact with others within an enclosed environment. 

It is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems likely to behave like other coronaviruses. A recent review of the survival of human coronaviruses on surfaces found large variability, ranging from 2 hours to 9 days (11). The survival time depends on a number of factors, including the type of surface, temperature, relative humidity and specific strain of the virus. 

Children aged 4 and under do not require a COVID-19 test on day 2 and day 8

Children and young people aged 5-17 need to take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2

All under18s who have been to France in the 10 days before they arrive in UK must follow the rules set out in the gov.uk website
